Permissions / Illustrated lesson

Token approvals
Permission can matter before money moves.

An ERC-20 approval gives a spender an allowance. A later transferFrom request may use that allowance. Review the permission and the actual movement separately.

    Owner grants allowance

  2. 02

    Spender requests transferFrom

  3. 03

    Token executes or rejects

Illustrative sequence. This diagram is a teaching aid, not a captured transaction.

What to collect

  1. Token, owner and spender addresses
  2. Approval value and transaction order
  3. Receipt and matching transfer evidence
Before drawing a conclusion

An approval alone is not proof of theft. Later allowances and the token’s own implementation can change the result.

Test the idea

An approval for 1,000 tokens appears. Is that evidence that 1,000 tokens left?

Reveal the explanation

No. It records permission. You need evidence of an executed transfer to describe a movement.
