Token identity and misleading labels
An address and a network are stronger than a ticker.

Token names and symbols are display metadata. Unrelated contracts can use similar labels. Match the actual deployment before assigning a price, reputation or identity to a transfer.

Reading history stays in this browser. Manage it in My Explore.
  1. 01

    Read the chain identifier

  2. 02

    Read the full contract address

  3. 03

    Compare an authoritative deployment reference

Illustrative sequence. This diagram is a teaching aid, not a captured transaction.

What to collect

  1. Chain and contract address
  2. Raw integer amount and decimals
  3. Issuer’s deployment reference
Before drawing a conclusion

A valid address format says nothing about its owner or safety. An unsolicited token is not evidence that your signing key is compromised.

Test the idea

Two tokens both say USDC. Can their balances be combined as the same asset?

Reveal the explanation

Only after checking their deployments and representations. The symbol alone is insufficient.
