A bank deposit token arrives on another public chain. The useful question is what the token represents.

What changed

J.P. Morgan says Kinexys has brought its dollar deposit token, JPM Coin (JPMD), to Ethereum after its earlier launch on Base. The announcement concerns institutional clients; it does not describe unrestricted retail access.

Why it matters

A token symbol is not a complete description of the claim behind it. A commercial bank deposit token and a separately issued stablecoin can move on similar infrastructure while carrying different issuer relationships and access conditions.
